Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
This update on his health comes as the global fight fans had expressed its support for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
