Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a embargo on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities offered varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative remarks that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser should have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
