Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
